Business Ethics Training – How does this relate to Internet Marketing?
Part 4 of 7
We believe in providing quality, honest, and relevant information to you, our readers.
Does this mean we are Internet Do-Gooders?
No – It is all about Business Ethics Training from our past corporate life. Treat people with respect, – do unto others as you would have them do unto you and so on.
For the past 20 years in off line business, business ethics have been instilled into my character. Through this process I was able to earn trust as well as respect, from my clients and peers.
As a result I bring these qualities to our online business where, in my opinion, it is more important on the Internet to learn and practice Ethical behavior more than anywhere in business. This is not meant to discount the importance of business ethics in the corporate world however we all know of the scams that have been born online.
The use of keywords and keyword phrases, you might be thinking:
What does this have to do with business ethics?
Great question, so let’s go back to Part 3, where we mentioned using Keywords and Keyword phrases that attract traffic. We used the name Britney Spears as an example to demonstrate our point. Now if you use a Keyword or Keyword phrase which is relevant to your website content, then of course that would be fine.
BUT if you use keywords or keyword phrases which are not relevant to your website’s content but you know the keyword being used is very popular and will no doubt drive a ton of traffic here is what happens:
- Google will search your site for relevancy comparing keywords with the Title and content. Once Google figures out your keywords have no relevancy to your site content, they will penalize you. If you have a decent rank, you could suddenly find yourself on the bottom again, which could ruin your business.
- Before Google finds out what you did, you might be fortunate enough to get a ton of traffic to your site. The people coming to your site are expecting to get similar information they searched for. These people will become very annoyed and will no doubt leave your site without taking any action. (Bad for your business)
It has been proven time and time again, by experienced marketers, that using keywords inappropriately will only hinder your results. Sure you will possibly see a ton of traffic however converting these visitors to sales and/or signing them up to a mailing list will most likely not happen.
