Do You Need an Education to be an Internet Entrepreneur?
Everybody is educated in one way or another – education not only comes from the school system in your country but also life lessons.
How many times have you heard the saying: ” I made a mistake but it was a lesson well-learned.”
Throughout life we will often make mistakes that are unforgettable, mistakes that cause us to work unnecessarily harder, maybe our mistakes will cause us to lose money. Successful people will learn from these lessons never to repeat but use these mistakes to help them become stronger people.
There are times when you will meet people with varying backgrounds who are successful in their businesses and have never taken any business courses. These people will tell you they owe their success to patience, hard work and dedication. Other successful internet entrepreneurs may tell you it takes education to excel as a business owner.
To say you don’t need any education to be a true internet entrepreneur is really not an accurate statement. Sure you can outsource a lot of your business tasks and as far as the technical stuff let others do that , outsource sales copy but what if something doesn’t work and you need it fixed right away then what?
You really need to learn the basics of business, some technical aspects of your business and other tasks which will allow you to keep good relations with your customers. If you know enough to get your customers through the sales process then the other technical stuff can be someone else headache.
Aside from education, you need to process the right qualities and characteristics of being an internet entrepreneur such as leadership, innovative, creative, risk taker and many other traits necessary for success. As we have
mentioned in several other articles you will not be a successful internet entrepreneur if you don’t have these qualities and characteristics.
Being in business online or offline requires the proper mix of education and characteristics related to business ethics. Some of you may believe that education means earning a business degree in college and if that is what you can afford and desire then by all means go for it.
For those who desire education in business but can’t afford it don’t be discouraged. There are plenty of resources online that are free which will help you to gain insight into how a business should run. Also don’t discount your local library resources as there is plenty of material which can be a huge help. No, these resources won’t help you to get a certificate at this point but it will give you a place to start which can lead to an entry level position related to your online business. This will give you a good grounding to understanding the basics to get started.
As your business grows your position as an internet entrepreneur has to be enhanced with more education so you will make good business decisions to help your business run efficiently as possible.
Remember only you can determine if you’re fit to become an internet entrepreneur.

Excellent article! I don’t have a college education, but whenever I needed to learn something, I turned to the library, the internet, and various experts in whatever field I was interested in at the time. Getting an education doesn’t necessarily mean a college degree, unless that’s the best place to get the knowledge you need. Regardless of where you learn, your education is useless unless you put it to work; apply it to your life, to your business, teach it to someone else. I try to learn something new and apply it on a very regular basis.
Very good article:
Education or Degree? An education, development or training, is acquired knowledge. Yes, acquired knowledge and understanding is needed to perform any task successfully in life. But a degree is not need in most cases.
Knowledge and understanding can be acquired in many different ways. A degree in most cases is a beginning point to learing real world application. Any learning must be tranferred to action. This is the real test!
